Tom's been a crossword puzzle enthusiast for much of his adult life, but in recent years,
he's taken it up a notch by competing in the world's greatest annual crossword
puzzle tournament, hosted by The New York Times.
His first attempt was in 2007, where he placed 538th out of 698.
He competed again in 2008, where he placed 430th out of 699.
In 2009, he placed 515th out of 674.
In 2010, he placed 499th out of 643.
And in 2011, he placed 435th out of 655.
Last Time, in 2012, he placed 398th out of 594.
Founded in 1978 and directed by New York Times Crossword Puzzle
Editor Will Shortz, this is the nation's oldest and largest crossword
competition. Solvers tackle eight original crosswords created and edited
specially for this event. Scoring is based on accuracy and speed.
Prizes are awarded in more than 20 categories, including a $5,000
grand prize.
